Tahun Imamat

Paus Benediktus XVI menjadikan tahun ini sebagai Tahun Imamat, tahun yang diperuntukkan bagi para Imam. Tahun Imamat dimulai pada Perayaan Hari Raya Hati Yesus yang Mahakudus pada tanggal 19 Juni 2009 dan akan ditutup di Roma dengan pertemuan internasional para Imam dengan Bapa Suci pada tanggal 19 Juni 2010.

Bersamaan dengan pengumuman tahun Imamat, Bapa Suci juga menyatakan St. Yohanes Maria Vianey yang diperingati 150 tahun memasuki kehidupan abadi, dinyatakan sebagai gambaran universal seorang Imam. Yohanes Maria menjadi teladan para Imam.

Bapa suci mengajak kita untuk berdoa bagi para Imam, karena mereka adalah wakil Kristus didunia ini :

A priest is the reflection of God's love.
